Community Involvement
McKean Defense Group is deeply committed to the communities where we work and live. From gathering and distributing school supplies to needy children, to participating in bicycle races that support Wounded Warrior programs, our employees actively participate in a variety of charitable events and volunteerism opportunities. These organizations represent the current programs our company and employees support.
Crane Cyclefest: supports our wounded veterans by raising funds to help the Fitness Foundation, a program that offers physical and mental rehabilitation programs.
The Noblemen: identifies and performs Noble Deeds for needy children. Provides mentoring and funds to a variety of causes.
First Lego League Teams/US First: inspires young people to be science and technology leaders through programs where teams of children that attempt to solve a real-world engineering challenge using research, critical thinking, and imagination.
Riley Children’s Hospital Red Wagon Fund: provides funding for new red wagons for hospital patients and their families to carry belongings and move from one room to another.
Just Call Us Volunteers: positively impacts the lives of low income and homeless adults and children by serving healthy meals and providing hands on cooking classes.
Navy Seal Foundation: provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families.
Wounded Warrior Project: honors and empowers wounded veterans. Their vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded warriors in this nation's history.
So Others Might Eat (SOME): an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless by providing the immediate daily needs of people with food, clothing, and health care.
Bethesda Project: premier provider of housing and services to the abandoned poor.
HEADstrong Foundation: generates funds for cancer research, and distributes grants and assistance to survivors of blood cancer. Provides scholarships and grants for students with ambitions of entering the medical field.
Smile Train: provides a child born with a cleft the same opportunities in life as a child born without.
Special Olympics: provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
United Negro College Fund (UNCF): builds a robust and nationally-recognized pipeline of under-represented students who, because of UNCF support, become highly-qualified college graduates.
Youth Leadership Foundation: hones basic reading, writing, and comprehension skills to enable students to perform at grade-level or better and who can become future leaders who do their work with a spirit of service to others.
Great Guys Group: alleviates the burdens of cancer by providing a light of hope to families through emotional and financial support.
Capital Area Food Bank: feeds the hungry by acquiring food and distributing it through member agencies and educates the community about the issues of hunger and nutrition.
Martha’s Table: helps at risk children, youth, families and individuals in the community by providing educational programs, food, clothing, and enrichment opportunities.
Toys for Tots: delivers, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters.
Sullivan County Animal Shelter: a non-profit organization committed to the education of the public in the humane treatment of all animals, the prevention of cruelty to animals.
Philadelphia Police Fund: a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department.
United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania: leverages and strategically invests the collective power of donors, advocates and volunteers, to drive measurable results that improve the lives of people
St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children: provides quality, specialized care within a homelike environment for special children with severe disabilities.
