Designing and Implementing Enterprise Data Warehouse Service
CHALLENGE:
For the Navy, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is an initiative that has the goal of increasing operational value while decreasing costs. The challenge is integrating multiple data sources from numerous legacy systems into the ERP solution. Data warehousing techniques have a natural fit in an ERP environment because of the business intelligence framework that can be created.
SOLUTION:
McKean is responsible for the system design and implementation of the NAVSEA Data Warehouse Service, which provides the standard framework for enterprise business intelligence. Through this infrastructure, senior executives will be able to access and analyze data from legacy ERP systems in a more seamless fashion.
SUCCESS:
The system design provides central data storage and reporting, overlaid with automated algorithms based on common and consistent data definitions. Customizable dashboards are also part of the design, facilitating reduced management time to asses various data levels and improving the quality of information on which major decisions are made.
